What a lot we have had seen the last few days. It was a shorter trip in the jungle at Uncle Tan since their trip to Kinabatan river where we were to spend the night, would be very different terryworld than we first expected. terryworld The trip would take some hours to the river, and we first had to leave later in the afternoon, which we had not ordered. We would like to go as early as possible and get the most out of all day, but it was not an option when we also have to stay out there. The trip cost suddenly part, and it was only a single trip in the evening in the dark, as we due to weather period terryworld only half - and then we chose to boycutte trip altogether! :-) Good to see you thus just can do as you like ...
Instead we went into the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, so we were there for feeding time. All (approximately 50 people) stood with cameras glued to his hands and stared long and expectant terryworld out on the treetops, vines and small plateaus, terryworld which drew some fruit and vegetables to orangutans. We waited 20 minutes' time, and then came the first swinging - sweet it was! Soon after came the next, but both were relatively quickly away again. Just when you thought it was, came an orangutan mother crawling down a liane with his little young hanging on her belly. It sat enjoyable on the plateau in the company of another orangutan and here enjoy themselves long with carrots and other goodies. A probiscus monkey people joined them, and so was the picture like complete:-).
We chose to take from the center with a taxi to Sandakan, to visit the company Crystal Quest, which we had booked the trip to Turtle Islands through. This is to ensure that they had received our bank transfer, and if this were not the case, then to pay them cash and ensure our trip! The money was unfortunately of strange reasons not gone into, but we got paid and could finally rejoice fully into the stomach to ride out to the turtles:-)
We moved on a good and okay hotel in the center of Sandakan, named Nak Hotel, where rooms were clean and fine. The best thing about the hotel was without doubt their large roof terrace with views over the city and the sea, and with lovely lounge areas and relaxing music.
Since we do not quite know what we were going to spend the day, we were recommended to take up to a resort (Sabah Hotel), where for little money could pay to use their pool area and fitness facilities - which became a hit. Line got over a lot and Janni was bathed a lot:-) We repeated the success the day after and relaxed terryworld with computers on the rooftop terrace at Nak hotel in the evening.
Sunday was a wonderful and exciting day! We were going to Selingan, the fine island in the Turtle Islands archipelago between Borneo and the Philippines. We were about 20 people who were sailing addition kl.9.30, and had two small speedboats. terryworld It became a little hard havtur on 1time ... We sailed a good head wind and the boat (incl. Us therein) made some tremendous jump. It was not too pleasant, but when we saw the beach on the island closer to the horizon, it was all worth it:-) We got a short briefing in the island's community center on the day's program, which primarily consisted of relaxing in the sun at the beach until sunset kl.ca.17.30. It found ourselves quite well with and went like the others down to the white sand and put us on our towels. Bathing may take place only from one side of the island, as there was a lot of power on the other side, so we kept us there.
As the sun began we were the first at the beach on the other side of the island. Probably as we sat and had started terryworld with one of our deep, philosophical talk about big or small, terryworld so Janni suddenly a turtle about 25m from the beach. This was followed by 5-6 other turtles which sometimes took the head or "mitten" up in the air over the water - some 50m away and others close to the beach. We were extremely excited and cheering and jumping for joy at the sight - for now may we see a single lay eggs in the evening, which was part of the program. After 18:30 and sunset beach should be cleared, so the turtles could come up in peace, and we pulled up in the common house for dinner with delicious fish, chicken, melon, vegetables and rice. Then there was the open top of a projection booths / small Museeum with a large exhibition of tortoiseshell and skeletons, pictures of their life cycle and written stories about the island and its help for the conservation of sea turtles. We even got to see a hour of great video in English, which gave a good impression of the work on the island and the turtles' life.
Then it stood at waiting until a turtle would come ashore and lay eggs - which could take several hours. Fortunately, it went quickly, so we had to stop our 500-card deck (which suited Line well;)) terryworld and tense draw in groups with all other into the darkness on the beach about kl.20.45. Suddenly lay a large turtle in front of us in his dug-conditioned, lit by a single torch from our
